Timing E-newsletters for Optimal Open and Click Through Statistics
By Christine Dubyts, Dubts Communications
The timing of e-newsletters is as critical as the content, maybe even more so. Tell me, do you know when you receive the most e-newsletters in your inbox? Do you read them right away? Well, you may not intentionally check the date/time stamp, but you can bet that somebody else is.
Yes, timing e-newsletters is becoming as much a science as biology and chemistry! Now that you're aware of this, you'll probably start noticing that your inbox seems more cluttered with mass e-mail from Tuesday to Thursday, with Tuesday being the favourite day to send. Other patterns you might notice – you receive more e-newsletters at the top and the bottom of the hour, and of course some send overnight with the goal of being the first in your inbox in the morning. Is this good? Maybe for some, but if you're anything like me, your morning is a jumble of phone calls, meetings and trying to get organized for the day ahead.
The secret for timing e-newsletters: Don't be like everyone else. In other words, beware that following these trends when e-mailing your impeccably crafted e-newsletter may just leave them collecting dust as they get shifted further and further down the inbox, unopened, as new e-mail are received by the minute. Timing really is everything.
